Delhi attracts a lot of poor migrant workers from all over India. These underprivileged people live on the sides of the road and in the Slums. Living in these menial conditions, where it is difficult for them to make both ends meet, providing education to their children becomes a tedious task. UPAY- Under-Privileged’s Advancement by Youth is trying to solve these problems by making the School reach to streets. I, Kiran Chauhan, on behalf of UPAY Delhi Zone Volunteers, am running this campaign to make an impact on the life of these deserving but deprived children of the society. I have been associated with UPAY for 1.4 years.
Working as a mentor and observing them closely, I got aware of the talent and abilities possessed by them which can bring a lasting impact on their lives. All they need is quality education and skill development. UPAY and its dedicated volunteers are working towards this goal. You can help UPAY make a difference by sponsoring a child. We are reaching to the children through two initiatives- Footpathshala, and Reach and Teach. Delhi Zone has three running centers at Karol Bagh and Noida Sector 18 & Tilak Nagar. We provide free education along with basic necessities like stationery, school bags, course books, etc. We also conduct regular medical camps for children as well as their parents. On average, we spend 3600 rupees per child annually. This encompasses all the needs related to education, health, and hygiene.
These efforts will bring a positive change in their life and open up a pool of opportunities for them. The mid-term goal is to bring them at par with mainstream children and in the long term, we intend to make them capable to earn a respectable livelihood. Sponsoring a child is like adopting a child and putting up their future on a bright course.
Average Annual Expenditure on each child is 7200 Rupees
The donation will help us educate nearly 17 students for one year. It will be used to set up a school perimeter near the slum area as well as the educational needs of the Children
